“Well sorry” she smirked. “I’m not that tall.. Just need to… Ya know, stand my ground. Try to match you eye to eye..” She had heard from her dad that the number one way to indimidate people was to look in their eyes, but being only fourteen, she had to typically get on the tips of her toes to do so. Allison winked at him, smiling. “Not all of us can be tall.”

Her heart hit so hard in her chest that she was pretty sure the whole arena could hear it. His voice brought her head back up to look at him. Allison wanted to grin when he kissed her again, but couldn’t. She simply returned the kiss, lacing her arms around his neck. Josh curled his arms around her waist, and she pressed her body closer to his. She hoped she was doing everything right, she didn’t want to risk showing that she had no experience with this kind of stuff. Josh didn’t know that he was her first kiss, and when she was reaped, definitely wasn’t planning on enading up kissing a boy in a cave illuminated by moonlight.

” Don’t be sorry, I like when we are at the same eye level its cute.”  he winked at her. ” I’m not too tall for you “  he said as he stuck his tongue at her.  It was true though in his family he was short — average if anything.

When Allison turned around to look at Josh, you saw the worry on her face.  As if she did something terribly wrong.  Truth is Josh wanted to kiss her,  he had feelings for her and he wasn’t afraid to admit it either.  As soon as Josh kissed her again he felt her kiss him back.  At this moment they both felt each others hearts beating at a rate that could not be measured. Josh didn’t want this moment to end it was perfect a moon lite cave kissing under the stars.  What more could you ask for.  He pulled back place his forehead on hers so he could see her eyes he said ” if you haven’t already figure out the girl i have feelings for is you “

Allison smiled. Josh always had the right thing to say, to make her feel less awkward. A blush bloomed on her cheeks as he winked. She winked back, “You’re still taller.” In her district, she was conisdered tall, because most families lacked nutrients necessary for proper growth, the food shortages toiling on them. Allison’s family had been a major grain supplier, but still, never had enough. They just had more.

Allison instantly felt her fingers shaking in shock. There was no way. Josh couldn’t like her. She was nothing special, she had nothing going for her. But yet, she was in his arms, their bodies close together, a happiness in her heart that she had never felt before. “I kind of guessed that..” She whispered softly, smiling. His face was half lit by the moonlight, patches dark where the leaves from the tree blocked  the light. She moved her hand to brush his cheek softly, her eyes staring into his.
